Columbus, Georgia- The Fort Valley State University Wildcats took on the Golden Rams of Albany State University in its 26th Annual Fountain City Classic in Columbus, Georgia on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 2:00 P.M.
This matchup was the determining factor as to whether either team would advance to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship otherwise known as “The Crampton Bowl” in Montgomery, Alabama on November 14, 2015 between the winner of the Western Conference Matchup and the Eastern Conference Matchup. The Western Conference Matchup was between The Albany State University Golden Ram Football Team (5-0 SIAC, 5-3 OVERALL) and The Fort Valley State University Wildcat Football Team(5-0 SIAC, 5-3 OVERALL). In the second half in which the Wildcats came out dominating, scoring and taking the lead as they scored on 3-yard touchdown pass from Malcom Eady to Travis Richmond, the game would soon take a dramatic turn. Fort Valley State fumbled on their next play giving the opportunity in which the Golden Rams needed in order to win. With under a minute Albany States Small would later move through the Wildcats defense and score, bringing the score to 21-17. The Albany State Golden Rams would go on to win the game.
The Albany State University Golden Rams Football team (6-0 SIAC, 6-3 OVERALL) will go on to take on Miles College (6-0 SIAC, 6-4 OVERALL), which defeated Tuskegee University (6-1 SIAC, 8-2 OVERALL) on the day of Tuskegee University’s homecoming, 26-23.
