Car enthusiasts of all ages came out to Fort Valley State University’s eighth annual Wheels in the Valley car, truck and motorcycle show. The event was held in the Wildcat Stadium parking lot Saturday Oct. 25, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A variety of cars, old and new, were seen.
Calvin, an owner of a 1972 Plymouth Duster, said this was his third time attending the event. He recently traveled to Canada in his Duster. “I really enjoy coming out here,” said Calvin. “I hope this turnout does not discourage future car shows.” Several people noticed the decrease in participation this year.
Many students came out to look at the different vehicles. Angelica Washington, an FVSU senior criminal justice major, was amazed at the restoration process many of the cars undergo.
For some car owners registered in the show, it was their first time ever coming to the event. Greg, an Albany State University alumnus, said, “This is actually my first time ever coming to this show, I heard about it on the radio.”
Proceeds from the show aid FVSU’s scholarship fund as well as the Boys and Girls Club of Georgia Heartlands.
