Fort Valley
State University welcomed more than 250 prospective
students and their parents to the 2016 Winter Open House, held Saturday, Feb.
20 in the campus’ Student Amenities Building.
Open house
recruits new students and gives them—and their parents—an opportunity to see
what FVSU has to offer, from campus life and career services to residential
life and academic programs.
Several faculty
and staff members attended the spring recruitment affair to share departmental
information at booths that lined the building’s first floor.
Rocio
Castillo, FVSU junior and CDEP scholar, stated, "The most that I took away
from this event was the fact that I enjoyed seeing students interact with
professors, administrators and other FVSU students."
Dr. Jacques
Surrency, FVSU assistant professor of environmental soil science, stated,
"What I enjoyed most about this open house is meeting students and
parents, and informing them about the field of agriculture.”
